Ross Anthony Minneci

Ross Anthony Minneci

It is with great sadness that the family of Ross Anthony Minneci announces his passing on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, after a six-month illness, at the age of 87.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 11 at 2:00 p.m., at Perl Funeral Home/Siskiyou Memorial Park, 2100 Siskiyou Blvd., Medford.

Ross will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Gloria; and his children, Steve, Bill (Pam) and David. Ross will also be fondly remembered by his five grandchildren, Lisa, Jarrod, Tony, Crista, Angela, and a great-grandson. He is also survived by his sister, Dora Maniglia in Bedford, Ohio.

Ross was born May 7, 1919, in Streator, Illinois to Jack and Josephine Minneci. On July 21, 1943, while stationed at Camp White, he met Gloria at a USO dance and they were married on July 21, 1944. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1941 1945 and remained in the reserves for 18 years.

Ross worked in the grocery business at the Groceteria and Van Wey's, retiring in 1962. His biggest joy in life was spending time with his family, with sports running a close second. He enjoyed fishing and golf and luckily had a witness when he scored a hole-in-one in 2002. He was an avid fan of the San Francisco 49ers.

Ross enjoyed traveling with Gloria visiting Italy, Spain, Canada and Alaska and taking numerous cruises. Ross and Gloria shared the same birthday May 7 and had a tradition of celebrating it each year in Reno with family and friends. Ross was a lifetime member of the Medford Elks Club, active for 44 years. He was a member of the American Legion for 56 years.

A special thanks to Dennis Preshaw, RN, of Asante Home Care for his service, support and friendship to Ross and family.
