Naomi E. Van Dyke

Naomi E. Van Dyke, 97, of Medford, Ore., passed away on September 20, 2006 at Farmington Square.

There was a private graveside ceremony on September 29th at Siskiyou Memorial Park, and John Van Dyke of New Mexico officiated.

Naomi was born December 7, 1908 in Portland, Ore., to Dollie and John Hohman. She attended college at University of Oregon and graduated in 1930 with a Bachelors of Foreign Languages. She moved to Medford after college and taught at the Valley School in 1930. She lived in Ashland from 1934-1947, and lived in Medford the remainder of her life.

Naomi married Frank J. Van Dyke at the Methodist Church in Ashland. They later divorced in the mid-1950's. She retired from teaching language at Medford High School in 1971.

Naomi was a member of the Retired Teacher's OREA, Delta Kappa Gamma Chapter AA, PEO, First Methodist Church and Lauback Literacy Board.

Naomi is survived by her son, John Van Dyke, of Albuquerque, N.M.; and daughter, Bonnie Van Dyke-Michael, of Sams Valley, Ore.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
