Roy Lee Shaw, Jr.
Roy Lee Shaw, Jr. died in Ashland October 4, 2006 at the age of 85. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady Of The Mountain Church in Ashland on Tuesday, October 10 at 10 a.m. He had lived a long and full life.
Roy was born in Ranger, Texas on January 31, 1921 to Dixie and Roy Lee Shaw, Sr. After serving in the Army in World War II, he married Yvonne Marie Miller in Richmond, California on August 12, 1947. They were married for 59 years, raised eight children and lived in California, Idaho and Minnesota; and in Lima, Peru.
Roy received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of California, and remained in the food technology business all his life, specializing in processing and storage. Upon retirement, he brought in his knowledge to developing countries through the volunteer organizations, US AID and VOCA. He was a Master Gardener and a member of St. Vincent De Paul Food Bank.
He is survived by his wife; all eight children; four grandchildren, including one adopted; one brother; one sister; and a whole clan of other relatives.
