Earl C. Neeley

Earl C. Neeley

Earl, age 88, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2006. He was born to James and Annie Neeley on June 18, 1918 in Texhoma, Texas. Earl was the fifth born of six children, having two brothers and three sisters. Thomas Neeley, Clinton Neeley, Ellyn Fikel and Lucille Welsh all preceded him in death. Loretta Shoop resides in Medford.

Earl served in the U.S. Navy and received his Honorable Discharge as a Carpenter's Mate Second Class on April, 1946.

Earl married Beryl Bertrand Martin on August 8, 1964 in Hawthorne, Nevada. Earl lived in the Ashland area approximately eight years, but resided most of his life in California. He was primarily self employed owning a multitude of businesses including a hotel, gas stations, bakery trucks, grocery stores, laundromat, tire shop, bus and taxi service, Sears and Roebuck mail order catalog sales, a deli and several taverns. He also owned several pieces of property which he later sold. You might say Earl was a jack of all trades and enjoyed keeping himself very busy.

Earl and Beryl were very active in the Moose Lodge in Lake Isabella, California, which was built on property that Earl sold to them. They enjoyed the Moose Club, Beamers Bottle Club and the Elks Club. Earl was a longtime member of the Elks and held many offices. After retiring, they loved to travel. They traveled to Canada, around the United States and went to Mexico on several different occasions. Earl loved to go to the back country to camp, hunt and fish.

Earl's wife passed away in January, 1998, and four years later Earl moved to Medford and resided in Blossom Hills Foster Home until his death.

Earl is survived by his sister, Loretta Shoop, of Medford; daughter, Sylvia Peterson, of Sheridan, Montana; step-daughter, Janice Wales, of Phoenix, Arizona; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held October 14th, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at Memory Gardens.
