John L. Mansfield

John L. Mansfield, 93, of Medford, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2006. John was the eldest of 10 children of Leo and Dena Mansfield. He was born in Merrill, Iowa on August 17, 1913. In 1952, he moved to Medford from the Bay area in San Francisco where he worked for the State of California as a toll collector on the San Francisco Bay Bridge. John was a 3rd and 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Medford Elks Club for over 50 years. He owned a Chevron gas station on the corner of Jackson and Hawthorne in the late 1950's - early 1960's and started the Associated Restaurant Supply Business on N. Pacific Highway, which he later sold. He was in real estate with Clark Walker, Jim Nistler and Bruce Bauer. He ushered at Sacred Heart Church for many years. He was a volunteer at Camp White with Irv Murick and Woody Morse and they were known on the golf course as the three M's. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn (Kay); son, David and wife, Cindy; grandsons, John, James, Mark, Jason and Aaron; great-grandchildren, James, Jeffrey, Andrew and Ashley, the first girl born in the family in 85 years; a brother, Larry, Fair Oaks, Calif.; a sister, Donna Beaulieu, St. Louis, Mo.; and a brother, Patrick, Ventura, Calif. Funeral services will be at Sacred Heart Church, 10th and Oakdale in Medford on Tuesday, December 5th at 1:30 p.m. At the family's request, donations to Sacred Heart Church may be made in lieu of flowers.
