Margaret Rose Montana

Margaret Rose Montana (Zolldan), Shady Cove, born on August 6, 1919 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Rose and George Zolldan, passed away on Sunday December 3, in Shady Cove.

Margaret was raised in Oakland, California following her parents move from Minnesota in 1920.

She married Arthur F. (Monte) Montana in 1947. Margaret retired from a career in the Federal Government with the Merchant Marines in 1974 and moved to Shady Cove in 1983.

Margaret was active in outreach assistance for senior citizens and the Upper Rogue Community Center, receiving the URCC's "Lifetime Achievement Award" during the Center's 25th Anniversary Event in October 2006. She was a member of the Lutheran Church.

Margaret was preceded in death by her infant son, Charles Anton, her husband, Monte, parents, Rose and George Zolldan, brother, Gerhard Zolldan and sister, Millie Lewis. She is survived by her son, Fred Montana and wife, Jo of Vinita, Oklahoma, daughter, Dr. Clara Montana Newswanger and husband, Dr. Warren Newswanger, Santa Barbara, granddaughters, K.C. Randolph and Kentra Montana, Vinita, Oklahoma, Malia Montana, Santa Barbara and one great grandson, Carter Montana Randolph, Vinita, Oklahoma. No local services are planned, donations may be sent to the Upper Rogue Community Center in Shady Cove.
