Garen Arthur Tauriainen
Garen was born January 24th, 1988 in Medford, Ore. and died tragically in a motorcycle accident on January 18th, 2007 while attending school in Phoenix, Ariz. He was a beloved son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, coworker and friend to many.
Garen attended Jacksonville Elementary School, McLoughlin Middle School, and graduated from South Medford High School in 2006. During his years in high school, Garen loved the outdoors and various sports including: BMX biking, wake-boarding, and especially snowboarding. Concurrently with his schooling, Garen worked several jobs at places such as: Cross Creek Trucking Company and Ray's Market in Jacksonville, Ore.
His passion in life was motorcycles, leading him to attend the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Phoenix, Ariz. He attended school full time and worked full time at Sanderson's Mercury and Lincoln Dealership.
In his life, Garen made many friends both in Oregon and in Arizona. Those closest to him say his smile, sense of humor, kindheartedness, and spontaneity will be missed most. It would be his wit and fun-natured personality that attracted him to his girlfriend: Kylei Hoyt.
Garen's organs were donated to save the lives of five people; demonstrative, even in death, of Garen's giving personality. His uplifting disposition and kind face will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his mother, Yvonne Tauriainen; father and step-mother, Gary and Charla Tauriainen; and his younger sister, Sara Tauriainen. Additionally , he is survived by his paternal grandparents, Bill and Barbara Blight; maternal grandmother, Charlene White; maternal grandparents, Gus and Mitzi White; and two great-grandmothers, Lucille Garcia and "Skeeter." He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Glenn Tauriainen.
Other surviving family members include his uncles and aunts: Robert and Denis Tauriainen, Kurt and Linda Mickelson, Rick and Petra Ward, James and Mickey Miller, Chad and Tammy Connally, Tony White, Cheri White, and Mike Starks. He is survived by his cousins: Ryan and Kevin Tauriainen, Lindsay and Dahne Mickelson, Jake Ward, Victoria and Mikey Starks, as well as, cousins living in Idaho. Finally, Garen had two step-sisters: Janelle and Cheri Sewell.
Services will be held on Friday, January 26th with a viewing at Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives, 550 Business Park Drive, Medford in Oregon at 11 a.m. to — p.m. His funeral gravesite service will begin at 2 p.m. at Memory Gardens, 1395 Arnold Lane in Medford. A memory celebration will be held on Saturday the 27th at Applegate Christian Fellowship in Ruch at 11 a.m.
