Ruth Bernice Borden, of Medford, died Sunday, February 25, 2007 from cancer. She was 87 years old.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2007 at Table Rock Fellowship in Central Point.

Ruth Borden was born July 8, 1919 in Bemidji, Minn., to Olaf and Sophia Risland.

Ruth lived her growing up years in Minn., but after getting married she moved west and spent time living in Ashland, Prospect, and Prineville, Ore. Ruth passed her love of music on to her children at an early age by creating the famous "Borden Family Band." The last 43 years of her life she lived in Medford, Ore.

She worked at JJ Newberry's for 25 years, working her way up to store supervisor. Everyone around her knew that her love for God and family was the highlight of her life. As she was sick in a hospital bed and at home she was witnessing to doctors, nurses, family and friends. She loved the outdoors, camping with family, hunting and fishing with her boys, especially when she could be camp cook. She loved going to church, being around people and always helping others.

Survivors include three sons, Richard and Micheal Borden of Bend, Ore., and Gary Borden of Prineville, Ore.; two daughters, Sandra Borden of Medford, Ore. and Sherry Clark of Central Point, Ore.; five brothers and four sisters; as well as numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Olaf and Sophia Risland, two brothers, Arvid and Arnold Risland, and two grandchildren, Joshua Clark and Michael W. Borden.

Conger-Morris Funeral Home in Central Point is in charge of arrangements.
