David Andrew Nichols died peacefully at his home in Jacksonville on March 18th. He was born June 22, 1969, in Fresno, California. He is survived by his wife, Christina, his parents, Richard and Peggy Nichols of Ashland, and his brother, Jeffrey of Clovis, California. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jennifer.
David graduated from Bullard High School in Fresno in 1988, accompanied his parents to Ashland in 1989, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in social science from Southern Oregon University in 1994. On October 22, 1994, in Ashland, he married the former Christina Ochs of Merrill. After she received her MBA degree from SOU in 1995, David and Christina moved to the Portland area, where David pursued graduate studies in the Administration of Justice Department at Portland State University.
David Nichols was a martial arts expert, active as both a student and teacher. He earned his second degree black belt in Shorinji Kenpo in Kyoto, Japan. More recently, he studied Russian Sambo in Ottawa, Canada, under the guidance of Igor Yakimov, Master of Sport. He attained the rank of Assistant Instructor.
No public services are planned, but a family celebration of David's life will be held on March 31st.
