Eunice Ervin

Eunice Ervin passed away peacefully on March 22, 2007 surrounded by family in Ashland, Oregon. Born in Luna, Louisiana on August 13, 1915, Eunice was married and had two sons, Bill and Jerry, with her first husband before their divorce. She was a bookkeeper with the U.S. Corps of Engineers and an accountant with several firms in Louisiana and Texas.

Eunice married the love of her life, Lynn Ervin, in 1947. They had two children, Susan and Lynn, Jr., and lived in Oklahoma and Wyoming, before moving to Houston where Lynn was Chief Geophysicist for Tenneco Oil Company. Eunice was the founder and first president of the Houston Geophysical Auxiliary, president of Geo-wives, and a member of the Houston Geological Auxiliary.

After retirement, Eunice and Lynn moved to Lake Sam Rayburn where they loved to fish and garden. Her favorite pastimes included ballroom dancing with Lynn, music, bridge, painting, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. They later moved to Lufkin and became active volunteers for local organizations and St. Cyprian's Episcopal Church. Eunice was also a member of several bridge and dance clubs. Following Lynn's death in July, 2006, Eunice moved to Ashland to be cared for by her daughter.

Sons, Jerry and Lynn Jr., brother, DeWitt Evans and husband, Lynn, preceded Eunice in death. Eunice is survived by her son, William Hatton of Saginaw, Tex; daughter, Susan Rolle and husband, Wayne of Ashland, Ore; grandson, David Hatton of Fort Worth, Tex; granddaughters, Linda Sue Bauer of Keller, Tex, Eva and husband, Jason Rapp, of New York City, and Cameron Rolle of Ashland, Ore.; great-grandson, Ethan Bauer of Keller, Tex; and nephews Don Evans of San Francisco and Ken Evans of Mesquite, Tex.

The family most gratefully acknowledges the devoted care of Dr. Thomas Willis of Lufkin over many years and the loving attention in Ashland from the staff of the Ashwood Senior Home and Asante Hospice.

Memorial services will be held at — p.m. Saturday, May 26 at St. Cyprian's Episcopal Church, 919 S. John Redditt Drive, Lufkin, Texas with The Reverend Scott Kitayama officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St Cyprian's Episcopal Church or Love Inc, P.O. Box 153311, Lufkin, 75915.
