Arvid D. Baker, 91, died April 2, 2007, at his foster home.
A memorial service will be held on April 13, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Rogue Valley Christian Church, 1440 S. Oakdale, Medford with Tim Shields of Rogue Valley Christian Church officiating.
Arvid D. Baker was born in St. Francis, Kans. to Claton and Sadie Baker.
He married Ava Kyle in Eugene in 1938. They lived in Cottage Grove until 2004 when they moved to Medford to be close to their family.
Arvid was a mill sawyer at Cottage Grove and Blue River. He was a mill owner at Sandy Creek, and owned a Western Auto store in Drain until his retirement.
He loved being with family and friends, hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing and gardening.
He belonged to Cottage Grove Rod and Gun Club, Cottage Grove Church of Christ and Rogue Valley Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ava; his daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Doug Skelton; sisters, Vera Schreiber and Alice Behr of Colo.; three grandchildren, Paul and wife, Karin, Justin and wife, Julie of Medford, Cindy and husband, John Carpenter, of Ida; seven great-grandchildren, Andrew, Abigail, Alex, Amelia, Austin of Medford; and Amber and Angela of Idaho. He had many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, seven brothers and sisters and one great-grandchild. Arrangements by Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford, OR 541-772-7111.
