Charlotte Nettie Beeney
Our beloved mother, Charlotte Nettie Beeney passed away Saturday, April 7, 2007 with daughters, Sharon and Judi at her side. Charlotte was born in Elko General Hospital in Elko, Nev. on August 15, 1924 to Lyle J. and Bessie Marie Beeney. She was raised on a large sheep ranch 40 miles outside of Elko at the base of the Ruby Mountains. She graduated from Elko County High School in 1941, at age 16, going on to work in the First National Bank of Nevada, then as a riveter, building bombers during WWII. She met Jack Boettcher at Camp Roberts, Calif. and married at the Chapel of Rocks and Roses in Medford in 1946. They later divorced in 1965. They had three children, Sharon Coffman of Medford, Ken Boettcher of Modesto, Calif. and Judi Jensen of Central Point.
She worked at Harry and David for 27 years, starting out as a keypunch operator in 1947, and working her way up to Data Entry Manager. She then worked for Jackson County for 25 years in the Computer Operations Department.
She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Medford, serving over the years as a Sunday school teacher, nursery attendant, library assistant, office assistant, greeter and Deacon. She belonged to the Rogue Valley Audubon Society and the Medford Senior Center. She loved family outings, flowers, bird watching, gardening and canning, traveling, crocheting, her little dog, "Bandit," her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the center and mainstay of our family, a wonderful, caring, loving, mom, grandma and great-grandma ("GG"), and we will always miss her.
She is survived by her three children, Sharon, Ken and Judi; ten grandchildren, Scott Coffman of Eagle Point, Kellie McCollum, Kristi Anderson, Tracey Worley, Katrina Gillispie, Jennifer Andersen and Heidi Charlton of Central Point, Ian Boettcher of Fort Collins, Colo., Ryan Coffman of Portland and Allegra Boettcher of San Francisco; and 13 great-grandchildren.
