Jan Freeman Carter

Jan Freeman Carter, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died peacefully at her home April 12, 2007. She will be greatly missed.

Born in Central Point, Ore. on July 9, 1931, Jan was the only child of Leonard and Ethyl (Dean) Freeman. She grew up and attended schools in Central Point, graduating from Central Point High School in June, 1949. She attended college, majoring in Home Economics.

She married Benjamin R. Carter on August 3, 1952 and spent many years traveling during her husband's Naval career, returning to Central Point upon her husband's retirement in 1966.

Jan was a life-long home maker whose interest including family activities, gardening and literature. She was very active in 4-H as a youth, and later as her children became active in 4-H. She was also a past honored Queen in Job's Daughters as were two of her own daughters.

Jan is survived by her three daughters, Lynda (Richard) Hunsley, of Central Point, Coleen (Jim) Bradley of Medford, Sherrie (Steve Gasper) Ingle of Eagle Point; and one son, Tim (Sandy) Carter of White City; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A graveside service will be held on April 20, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
