Willard Obie, 74, passed away April 14, 2007. He was born on the family homestead near Joplin, Mont. After graduating from Bozeman High School in 1951, he served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He worked for his brother's sign company as a glass tube bender and sheet metal worker, and later he worked in sales, leasing, and managing of other outdoor advertising companies, including his own.
He married his wife, Marlene, in 1959. They moved from Great Falls to Havre, Mont. and later to Medford, Ore., where their three children were raised. Subsequently, they lived in San Jose for 12 years before moving to the Seattle area in 1998. Since 2005, he was a resident of Foss Home & Village.
Willard enjoyed fishing, playing the harmonica and violin, fixing things, hearing and telling jokes, hanging out and making friends at cafes and being with family. He was known for being a good dancer at country dances in his younger years.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene; sons, Gene and Tim; daughter, Lana; brothers, Gordon and Laurence; sisters, Rose and Gilette; granddaughter, Meredith; grandson, Brady; nieces, great nieces, nephews, and great nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 20th at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Kirkland, Wash.
