Thayer David Moss

Thayer David Moss, 91 a resident of Medford, Ore., for the past 34 years, died March 28, 2007.

Born in October, 1915 in Troy, Pa., to Edward J. and Gertrude Seitz Moss, he grew up with four brothers, a dog named Brownie, a bike and a paper route. He went on to graduate from Bucknell University, Pa., in 1937; Georgetown University Law School, Wash., DC, in 1951 with an LL.B (jD); and was admitted to the D.C. Bar, U.S. Court of Appeals, and Court of Military Appeals in May, 1952.

Thayer served as a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy from 1941-1945 and retired as a Commander from the Naval Reserve in 1973.

After his active duty in WW II, he was with the Office of Chief Counsel, Procurement Agency, U.S. Army, retiring as Chief Counsel in 1972.

He was a member of the Eastwood Baptist Church, Medford.

He is survived by his daughter, Teena (Kristeene) Moss Deborba and son-in-law, John Deborba of Stockton; two brothers, Clarence and Frank of Mt. Laurel, N.J.; a sister-in-law, Doris Blymer of Frederick, MD.; nephews, Mike, Pat, and Dan Blymyer and Allen, Dick and Bobby Moss; and niece Doras Hannah, numerous friends and his cat, Cammy.

At his request, no local service was held. His cremated remains will be buried at a family graveside ceremony at St. Paul's Reformed Church in Cessna, PA., on April 5, 2007, joining his wife of nearly 50 years, Julia Hershberger Moss, who passed away in May, 1996.
