The funeral for Dorothy Mae Peterson will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at the Litwiller Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Mrs. Peterson was born July 20, 1935, in Centralia, Wash., the daughter of Elva and Ruthven Ticknor. She was raised in Centralia where she graduated from high school in 1953. On Aug. 23, 1953, in Centralia she married Delbert Lee "Pete" Peterson who survives. Pete and Dorothy lived in Centralia until 1960, when they moved to Eugene. In 1965, they moved to Ashland where they have since resided. Mrs. Peterson worked for Claire's Fabrics and later for Bi-Rite Grocery store, both in Ashland, and for 6 years Mr. and Mrs. Peterson managed the Timbers Motel. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and knitting. She often attended the Shakespeare and Cabaret theaters and enjoyed traveling with family. She was a member of Chapter BN, P.E.O., Ashland and the Pomona Grange in Washington.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters, Lesli Jo (Bob Adams) Scott, of Ann Arbor, Mich., Linda Lee (Alton) VanProoyen, of Central Point, Ore., and Marji Ann (Tim) Baars of Curtis, Wash.; a sister, Charlotte Jolly, of San Antonio, Texas; five grandchildren, Nicole, Sara, Peter, Liam and Helen; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two brothers.
