He graduated from high school in Miller, Neb., in 1936, and attended the University of Nebraska. He worked for the Rio Grande and Central Georgia Railroad for 10 years. He loved music and played saxophone in a dance band in Nebraska. He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, the Elks Club and the American Legion, NARF, genealogy and computer clubs. Norman had two stepchildren, Bernice Casner of Akron, Colo., and Darrell Burr of Aurora, Colo. He and Maxine were "rock hounds." His collection was donated to the Central Point Rock Museum, of which he was a member. He also spent many years working on the family genealogy and visiting old cemeteries.

He had two stepsons with Arlene, Dr. Ronald Worland, of Medford, and Dr. Richard Worland, of Richmond, Va. Arlene and Norm spent many winters in Mesa, Ariz., where they enjoyed square dancing. In 1999, they moved to the Rogue Valley Manor.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Bernice; and his brothers, John and Merle. His loving wife, Arlene, survives him. Arlene wishes to thank all the loving and caring people for the wonderful care Norm received at the Dialysis Unit and at the Rogue Valley Manor Health Center.
