July 11, 1930 - May 24, 2009
Our beloved husband and father passed away on May 24, 2009 surrounded by his family. He was born in Phoenix, Ore., to Guy W. Bishop and Hazel Bishop (McClelland), both from Pioneer families of the valley. Following graduation from S. Medford High in 1948, he served with the U.S. Air Force in Korea. In 1957, he graduated from Oregon State University as a Landscape Architect. He met and married his wife, Joanne in 1958. They moved to Portland where he worked for the U.S. Army Corps of engineers until retiring in 1991. Bernie loved beautifying every yard where they lived as well as for family and friends. He also loved playing tennis with his friends and was proud of his big Red Chevy truck.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne; children, Michael (Patrice), Heather Noren, Glenn (Sandra); grandchildren, Michael, Heather and Alexis Noren and Eli Bishop. His surviving siblings are his brother, Guy W. Bishop; and sister, Janet Lamb; as well as several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother, Truman; and sisters, Rosemary and June.
He will be greatly missed by all. Memorial service will be held Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Eastwood Baptist Church, Medford, Ore.
