Clarence Clay Mares

Clay Mares went to be with his Lord on Friday, July 17, 2009. A memorial service will be held at the Shepherd of the Valley Church in Central Point, on July 22, 2009, at 10:30 a.m.

Clay was born in Great Falls, Montana in 1927. He served in the Navy during WWII and then returned to Montana where he married his wife Marg in 1946. He worked for the Great Northern Railroad as a telegrapher in Great Falls and then as a warehouse supervisor in California. Clay and Marg moved to Medford in 1973 where he worked for 3M for 17 years. After retirement, Clay devoted his time to his family and volunteering at the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry.

Clay is survived by his wife, Marg; daughters, Marsha Bell and husband Gene, of Jacksonville, and Debbie Mares of Marysville, Washington; granddaughter, Toni Jenkins and husband Ray, of Eugene and grandson Tom Bell and wife Lori of Medford. He was a Great Grandpa Bumpa to seven: Candi, Scott, Dallas, Summer, Morgan, Caleb and Raynie. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Charles, his sister Wilma and nephew Arvil.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.
