Clarence (Larry) Rupp

Clarence (Larry) Rupp, 93, passed away, Wednesday, July 26, 2009, at Hearthstone Nursing Home, as a result of injuries from a fall. He was born April 16, 1916 in Hays, Kansas and grew up in Loveland, Colo. There he met and married his wife, Carrie, on August 18,1940. They were married for almost 69 years. They soon moved to Newport Beach, Calif., where he painted cars and then luxury yachts until his retirement. They moved to Medford in 1983.

He was active in Boy Scouts with his son, Larry. He served as an advisor for an Explorer post, an advisor for the Order of the Arrow in Orange County, Calif. and an advisor for the 12A Area for the Order of the Arrow of Southern California. He was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award for his years of service to the Boy Scouts.

His first love was for his family and he enjoyed the many family gatherings. He loved working in his yard. He was a patriotic man, displaying his flag each day. He served in the Army Infantry from 1933 to 1936 and in 1945, during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Carrie; daughter, Colleen Beatty and husband, Dennis; grandsons, Dennis Jr. and David Beatty; son, Larry Rupp and wife, Marilee; granddaughters, Shelley Houdesheldt and husband, Bruce and Tessie Humphreys and husband, Jeff; great grandsons, Quinn and Aiden Humphreys and Cole Houdesheldt; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Walter.

The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Hearthstone for the wonderful and cheerful care during his stay, and to those from Asante Hospice for their very special care and devotion - such a blessing! A service will be held at Eagle Point Veterans Cemetery on Friday, Aug. 7, 2009 at 11:00 AM.
