Lynn Hunt

Lynn Hunt

Lynn Hunt, of Albany, Ore., was 58 years old when he died on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at home with his family. He battled a very aggressive melanoma cancer that advanced at an alarming rate and he was very grateful for the help provided by Willamette Valley Hospice.

Lynn was born in Yreka, Calif., on November 22, a son of Lewis V. and Dorothy M. (Cooke) Hunt. He was raised in Talent, Ore. and graduated from Phoenix High School in 1969. Lynn had a gift with things that pertain to electricity and completed journeyman electrician training. This led to 39 years of employment in related fields, most recently as a meter-relay technician. He loved the actual work, enjoyed learning new things, and delighted in sharing his knowledge with others. Lynn lived most of his life in Southern Oregon, in the communities of Talent, Phoenix and Medford, before moving to Albany in 2005. In 1970, Lynn married Phyllis Clark and they had two daughters, Gina and Anne. They divorced in 1979. In 1980, Lynn married Sherry Klimek in Phoenix, Ore. They added a son, Nathan, to the family. Lynn worked as a construction electrician for many years all over Oregon and Washington before going to work for Pacific Power and Light in 1975, where he worked until his death. He was an active member of IBEW local #659, serving on the e-board from 1987 through 1993.

His unique personality and sense of humor caused him to be a very memorable character. Lynn delighted in the wonders of the world and attempted to have fun in everything he did. The times of silliness and laughter have been memorable moments for family and coworkers: Everyone has a Lynn story. He was interested in motorcycle riding (dirt and street), woodworking, sports, martial arts, sailing, flying, photography, reading, traveling and exploring, B horror movies, and playing the piano.

Lynn is survived by his wife, Sherry, his children; Gina (Jason Maderos), Anne and Nathan; grandchildren, Kristina, Todd, Joey, Gina, Jasmine, Blake, and Brandon, his father, Lewis; his mother, Dorothy; sister; Lenore; and brother, Lon. In addition, much loved family members his nieces and nephews, Michael, Jennie (Vern), Opal (John), Coral, and April; a son of his heart, Thomas (Kika) and his special cousins, Alta, Phil, Tom, Karen and Susie. Lynn was preceded in death by nephew, Lon. A celebration of his life will be held at the Red Lion, 200 N Riverside Avenue, Medford, Oregon from 2 to — p.m. on August 8th. Children are welcome to attend this informal gathering of family and friends. Memorial contributions can be made to the Lynn Hunt Scholarship Fund, sent in care of: Umpqua Bank, P.O. Box 1820, Roseburg, Oregon 97490, or any local Umpqua Bank branch). This fund has been created to help provide an opportunity for a graduate of the Phoenix Oregon charter school, Armadillo Technical Institute, to attend trade school or college.
