Jim Herlen Sheperd

Jim Herlen Sheperd passed away on Friday, Aug. 7, 2009 at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford. Jim was the fourth of seven children of Inez and Herman Sheperd. He grew up in Ruch and Jacksonville and graduated from Jackonville High School. At the early age of 16, Jim joined the Navy and served on the USS Helena.

Many will remember Jim from bartending at the J'ville Tavern in Jacksonville, Colony Far East, Hungry Woodsman in Medford and the Oak Knoll Restaurant in Ashland. His real renown to fame was his title as the state's Ugliest Bartender, which helped raise fund for the Oregon Chapter of Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Jim was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Karen; son, Lyn; stepchildren, Steven and Darren Graham; four grandchildren, Alexandra, Brienna and Caleb Sheperd and Camlyn Graham; brothers,Gale and Gary Sheperd; and sister, Dovie Stout.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, Aug. 13th 2:00 p.m. at Conger-Morris in Central Point. Family and friends are invited to a reception following at 270 Tiffany Avenue, Central Point.
