Charles Walter Millard, Jr.

Charles Walter Millard, Jr., 75, of Glendale, Ariz., passed away at a hospital in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Aug.15, 2009. He was born in 1934 in Tama, Iowa. After graduating high school he joined the Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. In 1955, he met his future wife, Joy Stoner. They were married in Sioux City, Iowa in 1959 and he became a journeyman carpenter. They settled in Medford, Ore., in 1963 where Charles took up a career in law enforcement. He served as a Medford Police Officer until he was promoted to Homicide Detective and worked on many high profile cases. In 1989, he retired after 25 years and the couple moved to Glendale, Ariz. He worked for the Phoenix Police Department as a callback officer from 1995-2004. Charles was a very loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Joy; daughters, Jerilynn Allison and Tracy Kobler; granddaughters, Jacquelin Hanger and Laney Kobler; great-grandson, Dillon Rubio; brother, James Millard; and sisters, Estella "Toody" Lauritsen and Joann Schovanec.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m.,Thursday, August 20th at the Heritage Funeral Chapel, 6830 W. Thunderbird Road, Peoria, AZ 85381. 623-974-3671
