Beverly Mae Quick Sherman

Beverly Mae Quick Sherman, 82, passed from our lives on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009. She was born in Berkley, Mich. on Dec. 30, 1926, to Charles J. and Marion D. Woon. She was raised and attended school in Pontiac. She married her husband of 50 years, Earl L. Quick, on Sept. 20, 1945, in Berkeley, Calif. After a short time in California, the couple returned to Michigan and raised three children in Pontiac.

The Quick family migrated to the Rogue Valley in 1972, joining other family members already settled in Evans Valley. Beverly spent her working years preparing school lunches for students in Rogue River High and Evans Valley Elementary schools until her retirement. Following the death of her husband, Earl, in May 1996, she remarried and moved to Colorado, but was thrilled to return to her beloved Rogue Valley in 2006.

Although failing health often made life challenging, Beverly maintained her enjoyment of family time and life's simple pleasures. She was a sweet and kind-hearted soul with a wonderful sense of humor. She was a dear and loving mother and friend, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. We will all smile when we think of her favorite saying, "Well, that's life in the big city."

Beverly was preceded in death by an infant son, Timothy; her parents, Charles and Marion Woon; a brother, Donald Woon; and her husband, Earl Quick. She is survived by her three children, Benjamin (wife Sandi) of Flagstaff, Ariz., Michael (wife Charlene) of Chino Valley, Ariz. and daughter, Cindy Quick Wilson (husband Terry) of Medford, Ore. and two grandsons, Zachary (wife Nicole) of Truckee, Calif. and Adam of southern Calif., and two great-grandsons, Dillon and Cody. She will be greatly missed by dear friend, Susan Campbell, Rose, her friends at Wynwood and her dearly beloved pug, Sammy. Mom, you will never really leave us.

A small family gathering is planned.
