Carol Charlene Lemieux-Couch

Carol passed on Monday, September 21, 2009. Carol was born May 1, 1930 to Clarence Conner and Edna Bresland, in Winfield, Kansas. Carol moved as a young girl to Merrill, Oregon and later to Medford, attending Medford High School where she was a majorette. She delivered telegrams in the Rogue Valley during the war and later worked as a telephone operator. She worked part-time at S.O.S. packing house when her children were young. Carol worked for many years at Beck's Bakery and then as a bartender and waitress, retiring in 1992. For many years, one of her greatest joys was fishing and crabbing on the Oregon Coast. Carol found great joy in her garden and with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Carol was active in PTA, a Girl Scout leader and always involved in her children's lives. She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports and was able to attend a few ball games of her great-grandchildren before becoming ill.

Carol is survived by her long-time partner,

Marvin C. Lemieux and her children, Linda (John) Bismark-Croswell, of Shady Cove, Ore., Macki Bismark-Grafton, of Medford, Ore. and Cary (Jane) M. Lemieux, of Portland, Ore.; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.

Carol was surrounded and cared for by her three children for many months and for the last four weeks of her life, with the help of Ashland Hospice. Our special thanks go to Carolyn Self, FNP, Self Integrative Care, her nurse, Susan, and to Ashland Hospice; especially to our nurses Doreen and Brenda, who were our guides to help our mother pass with dignity and love. A private celebration of her life is planned in November for family and friends. We would ask for donations in her name to be made to Ashland Community Hospital Foundation for Hospice Care, PO Box 98, Ashland, OR, 97520. Arrangements by Conger-Morris Funeral Home.
