Ellen A. (Hanson) Ross

Ellen was born into a pioneering family who homesteaded on the West Side of Lakeview, Ore. She grew up on the family sheep ranch. A recipient of the Bernard Daly Education Fund, she attended OSU and was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority of which she expressed many fond memories. After College Ellen worked for a short time at the J.C. Penny's in Lakeview and then was employed by First National Bank. While working at First National Bank Ellen met Robert C. Ross and after a period courtship they were married on May 12, 1939, in Portland, Ore. Her husband of 50 years was a Banker with First National Bank of Oregon (now Wells Fargo Bank). While married, she and her husband moved over the years with their four children. They lived in Portland, Prineville, Klamath Falls, Albany, Medford, and Eugene.

She enjoyed crafting, gardening, playing Bridge and dancing at the Elks club with her husband on a regular basis, in addition to being a converted and devout Catholic.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lena & Stanley Hanson, of Lakeview; husband, Robert C. Ross, of Lakeview, as well as brother, John S. Hanson, of Redmond. She is survived by her four children; son, Robert S. (Stan) Ross and Ardy, of Medford, son, John Francis Ross and Valerie, of Sherwood; daughter, Mary Ellen Cadman, of Medford and son, Richard A.(Dick) Ross and Ann, of Bend. In addition, she is survived by nine grandchildren; Jeff Ross and Staley (Ross) Arnett, Debbie Ross and Heather (Ross) Eichman, Tim, Kevin, and Brian Cadman, Tyra (Ross) Voll and Andrea (Ross) Gjestvang. Included in the family are nine great-grandchildren, Zakiri, Jazzeel and Aliiya Ross, Matthew and Amanda Arnett, Isabella Cadman, Logan Cadman and Kody and Morgan Voll. Ellen was an Aunt to three nieces, Patricia (Hanson) Bukeida, Jinnie (Ross) Welsh and Julie (Ross) Davidson; and three nephews, Dennis Hanson, Steven Ross, and Stewart Ross.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Magdalene Home or St. Vincent de Paul of Medford. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on November 21st at Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church.
