Kipp Daniel Crawford

Kipp Daniel Crawford, age 31, died on Nov. 4, 2009, in Portland, Ore., as a result of a tragic accident. He was born on Dec. 22, 1977 in Ashland, Ore., and grew up there, graduating from Ashland High School in 1996. He was a cheerful, easy-going child who excelled in school and loved the outdoors. At age 11 he began drum lessons and followed that passion into a professional life of music and studio recording. Since 2002 he has lived in Portland, performing with many bands, including Celilo, Thanks Kipp, Fractal Quintet and Ruby Dee and the Snakehandlers. He was a versatile, reliable, skilled artist who will be deeply missed by his family, friends, the music community, and all who knew him.

Kipp is survived by his parents, Vern and Jean Crawford, of Ashland; and sister, Janel Crawford, of South Hadley, Mass.

A celebration of Kipp's life is to be announced. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ashland Schools Foundation, 100 Walker Ave., Ashland, OR 97520 through the Kipp Crawford Memorial Jazz Band Enrichment Fund or to a charity of choice.
