Walter "Michael" Perry

Walter "Michael" Perry, 60, died Friday Oct. 30, 2009 at home in the Rogue Valley.

Michael was born in Waltham, Mass. Raised an Army brat in California and Germany, he attended high school in Orange County, 1966 joined the Navy, 1970, Illinois Valley, Ore. and Ashland in 1982.

Michael's loves were his family, music and motorcycles. He performed in bands throughout the Northwest and California. He was a radio newscaster, DJ and program director. He brought Rush Limbaugh's show to Southern Oregon--he thought he was a hoot. He also laid the groundwork for KRTA. He became Walt at Crown Homes for seven years until April 2009.

Michael is survived by his wife of 39 years, Marcele; son, Blue, of Medford; daughter, Crystal and her husband, MSgt. Joseph Read, stationed in Italy with granddaughters, Jessica, Nicole, Emily and Amanda; brother, John, of Talent, Ore.; and family in Southern California.

A gathering will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
