Darlene Marie Foster, 86, passed away Nov. 27, 2009, at her home in Medford, Ore. She was born March 18, 1923, in Alexis, Ill., the daughter of Lloyd and Irma (Schwartz) Stone.

She married James W. Gardner in 1921, and they had three children. Over their 43 years together, they lived in various states, settling in Central Point in 1977. Darlene was preceded in death by James in 1985.

Darlene married Donald D. Foster in 1988, and they resided in Central Point. They were both active members of Community Bible Church in Central Point where Darlene and her first husband had been members since 1978.

Darlene worked as a Licensed Cosmetologist before she and James had their family. When her children were young, she was employed in the school cafeteria in Santa Barbara, Calif. After her retirement, she took much joy in volunteer work through her church and in her community. She loved to quilt, creating beautiful baby quilts for each great-grandchild. Other hobbies and talents included ceramics and leather tooling, producing many treasured gifts for her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Don; older brother, Howard Stone, of Texas, younger brother, Keith Stone, of Ariz.; her three children, James Gardner, of Central Point, Ore., Joyce Kemp, of Coos Bay, Ore. and Joan Smith, of Tualatin, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Darlene will be held Saturday, December 5th, at 11:00 a.m. at Perl Funeral Home with private burial following at Siskiyou Memorial Park. There will also be a visitation at the funeral home, Friday, December 4th, from 2:00-5:00 p.m.

For those who wish to make a charitable contribution in lieu of flowers, Darlene named Community Bible Church or Providence Hospice, who were most helpful during her failing health.
