Beverly Jean Hanson

Beverly Jean Hanson was born to Evelyn and Milton Sanderson, on Feb. 7, 1939, in the original Sacred Heart Hospital. Growing up in Sams Valley, Beverly later attended Crater High School from which she graduated in 1957. In September of that year, Beverly married Jack Pech, with whom she had two sons, Dwight William Pech, of Lake Creek, Ore., and Darryl Gene Pech, of Klamath Falls, Ore. In 1971, Beverly married Thomas Hanson and Central Point became their home until Tom died on Dec. 18, 2005.

Beverly loved the outdoors, which included hunting, fishing, ATVs and her garden, sharing how she would grab her saltshaker and head for the reddest, ripest tomato growing on the vine. Joining the Providence Guild in 1981, she became a loyal and committed volunteer who put her heart and soul into helping visitors, patients and whoever needed the warmth of her never-ending smile. Bev was involved with many of the services with the Guild, and she served as President from 1985 to 1987, and again from 1992 to 1993. She was elected "Volunteer of the Month" in 1992, and "Volunteer of the Year" in October, 2007. Providence Hospital benefitted from her financial generosity, as well as her service to the Guild.

She leaves behind her sons, Darryl and Dwight; stepson, Ronald Hanson, of Cupertino, Calif.; and stepdaughter, Shirley Jean Hanson, of Concord, Calif. She is also survived by her sisters, Delores Rider, Vickie Sanderson; brother, Don Beers, of Joplin, Mo.; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Zeta Janice Sanderson; brother, Lee Sanderson; grandparents, Claude and Elsie Alexander, and Agnes and Charles Sanderson.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 1, 2010, at Providence Hospital in Mary Norbert Hall. Officiating will be Father Jim Clifford.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Oregon Chapter, 104 SW Clay, Portland, OR 97201, or Providence Hospital.
