Janet Marie Wright
Janet Marie Wright, 99 years young, of Medford, Ore., passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2010, at her home with her family by her side.
Janet was born to Henry and Fanny Theophilus, in Carroll, Neb., on August 1, 1911. She graduated from Peetz High School in Peetz, Colo., in 1930. With a class number of just seven, Janet had the distiction of being in the smallest class ever to graduate from Peetz High School.
She married Leslie Wright, on March 25, 1931, in Sterling, Colo. Early in their married life, Leslie and Janet moved to Oregon and in July 1947, moved to Medford, eventually celebrating their 60th anniversary here.
Janet and her husband spent the rest of their married life in Medford, Ore., raising five children and being a loving grandma to her four grandchildren.
Janet was a true homemaker. She loved to garden and crochet, but her dearest love was sewing. She made quilts for each of her children as they grew up, and each grandchild and great-grandchild. Deeply devoted, she also loved to work in her church. Teaching Sunday school for 25 years and even taking a turn at being the janitor for a couple of years.
Janet attended Tuesday morning Bible study, was an active member of the Griffin Creek Home Extention, as well as taking time to be a 4-H leader.
Janet is survived by two sons, Thomas (Sharon) Wright and David (Karen) Wright; three daughters; Phyllis Wright, Lois Wright and Mary Wright; four grandchildren, Stephen (Jeannie) Wright, Susan Wright, Glenda (Rick) Johnson and Nathaniel Wright; six great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Sarah Wright, and Christopher, Ashley, Leslie and Kari Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by husband, Leslie Wright; her brothers, Elmer, Harold and Edward Theophilus; her sisters, Vera Wilson and Cora Liggett; niece, Shirley Brown; nephew, Kenneth Wright; and one infant granddaughter, Naomi.
A visitation will be held Thursday, November 11, 2010, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., at Conger Morris, 715 W. Main, Medford. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Friday November 12, 2010, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1975 McAndrews, Medford.
