Diana J. (Davidson) Burns

Diana's life came to a peaceful end at the OHSU Hospital in Portland, Ore., on Thursday, November 11, 2010. She died of complications arising from a stroke which occurred at her home in Roseburg, Ore., on Monday, November 8, 2010.
Diana came into this world in Long Beach, Calif., where father, Jay, was employed in the wartime aircraft manufacturing industry. She was the first of three children to be born to Jay and Pauline Davidson. She was a cutie, and was the pride and joy of the young Davidson family. In 1946, the family moved to Oregon. They settled in Rogue River, built a home, had two more children, stayed put.raised their family, and mom and dad lived out the rest of their lives there.
Diana attended school in Rogue River, worked part-time at Gail's Market during her high school years, and attended two years at Southern Oregon College in Ashland. She married Richard Burns, of Ashland, Ore., in December of 1963. They set up housekeeping in Ruch, Ore., where Richard "Dick" was working for the U.S. Forest Service, in the Applegate Ranger District.
Early in 1964, they began a series of moves which included Fairbanks, Alaska, St. Louis, Mo., Ashland and Corvallis, Ore., and Anchorage, Alaska, where they stayed put for 17 years. Both of their sons attended Anchorage schools, and graduated from high school there. Diana worked as a secretary in the Anchorage school system. In 1991, Diana and Dick moved back to Oregon, settling in Roseburg. Diana went back to work as a secretary from 1994 until 2002 at Winston Middle School.
Diana had a beautiful rose garden, which she tended frequently, and so did the local deer population. She enjoyed watching birds and identifying any new or different breeds that would happen by.
Diana is survived by her husband, Richard, of Roseburg, Ore.; sons, Scott (Karyn) Burns, of Butte Falls, Ore., and
Kelly (Ashleigh) Burns, of Ashland, Ore.; three lovely
granddaughters; brother, Thomas (Kaylene) Davidson, of Phoenix, Ore.; and sister, Janis (Lloyd) Pugh, of Rogue River, Ore. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay and
