Floy Mae Carlson
Floy Mae (Bowen) Carlson died Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at Hearthstone Manor in Medford, Ore.
She was born September 5, 1923, in Jamestown, N.Y. to Floyd and Lydia Mae (Wells) Bowen. She was a graduate of Jamestown High School.
In 1957, the family moved to Santa Clara, Calif. Floy Mae worked at Lockheed in Sunnyvale, Calif., and later was employed by the school system in various capacities in the Santa Clara Valley. She loved children.
In 1982 she and her husband Marshall moved to Ashland, Ore. She became involved in volunteer work, and especially enjoyed helping people from other countries learn to speak English.
She was a member of the Methodist Church all her life, and belonged to the First Methodist Church of Ashland. She enjoyed her super seniors and quilters groups. Among her interests were camping, traveling and needlework.
Surviving children are her daughter, Marsha Markham (James), of Medford, and son, Brett Carlson (Nancy), of Laguna Niguel, Calif. She has four surviving grandchildren, Sabrina Hite (Ken), Jason Feber (Laura), Greg Markham and Jeff Markham (Katie Lynn).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Carlson, who she married on February 11, 1942, and who died April 6, 1987; a son, Douglas; and a grandson, Timothy Markham.
A memorial service will be held at the Church of Latter-Day Saints at 2900 Juanipero, Medford, on January 7, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at the Veterans Cemetery in Eagle Point.
