Carl Waldeck, 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at home with his wife, Marilyn, by his side. Carl was born on February 2, 1920, in Germany. He imigrated to the Philippines in 1939, then to San Francisco, Calif., in 1946.
In 1954, Carl started Waldeck's Office Supplies; it was a very successful and respected business in downtown San Francisco, Calif., for over 50 years. He and Marilyn fell in love with Ashland, Ore., and retired there in 1998.
Carl was preceded in death by his eldest daughter, Claire Rousseau. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; their children, Connie Waldeck, Clifford Waldeck, Michael Laird, Pamela Laird, Susie Murray, Matthew Laird; and his sisters, Ida Wheeler and Elfriede Cannata.
Throughout Carl's life, he endured many challenges, which only strengthened his faith and devotion to the Lord. He was truly blessed, and all who knew him shared in the blessing.
A memorial service will be held Friday, January 21, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., at Grace Lutheran Church, 660 Frances Lane, Ashland, Ore. Memorial donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, or the Ashland Food Bank.
