Joyce Ellen Enright
Joyce Ellen Enright, 79, of Medford, Ore., passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 6, 2011, at Rogue Valley Medical Center surrounded by her family. Joyce was born on June 29, 1931, in Longview, Wash. Joyce graduated from Eugene High School in 1949, and enjoyed sports, gardening, reading and was an active participant in softball, golf, bowling and keno. Joyce was a dispatcher for the Eugene Police Department from 1952 through 1964, a life member of the Women's International Bowling Congress and the United States Bowling Congress. She was a founding member of T & J Statewide Construction Sales and Service Inc. in 1984, and remained actively involved in the business until her passing.
Joyce was preceded in death by her first husband, William "Bill" Boentgen; her father, Sherman "Babe" Carter, and her mother, Mildred Hoeye Carter. She is survived by her ex-husband, Thomas Enright; stepsons, Mike and Greg Enright; stepdaughter, Cindy Enright Szigeti; sister, Linda L. Walker, of Eugene, Ore.; and her brother, Terry L. Carter, of Beaverton, Ore.
Joyce enjoyed being active with her bowling "buddies" and going to Seven Feathers Casino with her sister. She always saw things in a positive light and enjoyed a good cheeseburger more than a good steak. The hallmark of her life was her consistent discipline in everything she did whether professionally or personally. She was a faithful and trusted friend, and her steadfastness and guidance will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A private celebration of Joyce's life will be held. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
