John D. Love

John Love, of Eagle Point, Ore., passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2011, at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Portland, Ore., on January 30, 1947, to James and Lily Love. The family moved to Bend, Ore., in 1960. John graduated from Bend High School in 1965, and attended Central Oregon Community College as a mechanics student.

In 1967, he joined the Redmond National Guard, and the

following year, he married the love of his life, Sharon Perry, whom he had met in junior high school. They lived in Bend, until moving to the Rogue Valley in 1971. John began his construction business in 1973, and he and Sharon began their family later that year. He continued his business until his retirement in 2008.

John was an avid outdoorsman, and was a proud member of the NRA. He loved to hunt, fish and taught his children to love the outdoors as much as he did. John also passed onto his children his extensive knowledge and love of mechanics. The family spent many great times together exploring the Oregon coast dunes (where he was known as Wrong Way John), rafting the Rogue River, and snow mobiling the

mountains of Southern and Eastern Oregon.

John was an amazing and loving husband, father, and "Papa" as he was known to his five grandchildren. He is survived by his wife and soul mate of 43 years, Sharon; his son, John M. Love, and his wife, Paula; daughter, Jaime Love LaRance, and her husband, Rick; his grandchildren, Shawn Long Jr., Ricky LaRance III, Riley LaRance, Madison Love, and Macy Love; his brother, Ron, and his wife, Patty; and his sister, Sue Korth, and her husband, Don.

John's family and friends will come together to celebrate his life on Saturday, March 19, 2011, at 1:00 p.m., at John and Sharon's home in Eagle Point, Ore.
