Dennis George Ray

Dennis George Ray, 64, of White City, passed away January 17, 2011. He was born in Medford, Ore., to George and Bettymae Ray, on March 25, 1946, and spent the majority of his life in Jackson County.

Dennis spent his youth enjoying the company of many friends. He was involved with a group of teen square dancers and was a square dance caller for a number of years. He was also a member of the Crater Chapter of the Future Farmers of America. Dennis also enjoyed helping with various community organizations. He was a past member of the Central Point Rotary, Central Point Jaycees, Jackson County 4-H Leaders Association and Jackson County Cattleman's Association. He loved to spend summers swimming and fishing with his friends at their favorite fishing holes.

Dennis graduated from Crater High School in 1964, and briefly attended Oregon State University. His worklife included time as a surveyor, managing Mid-Cave Meat Packing Company, school bus driver, home improvement associate, and driver for Roto Rooter. He retired in 2009.

Dennis married Jeri Gardner in 1968, and they had two children, Tim and Shelley. They later divorced. He married Faye Albright Reeser, in 1995.

Survivors include his wife, Faye; children, Tim (Krista) Ray, of Dallas, Ore., and Shelley (Jeff) Rickman, of Hillsboro, Ore.; grandchildren, Tyler and Kendall Ray, and Cody Rickman; seven step-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters, Patricia Niemi, of Lebanon, Ore. and Georgia Mae Georg, of Albany, Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the Table Rock Fellowship, 3610 N. Pacific Hwy., Medford, OR, 97501, on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow immediately after the service.
