Milton E. Poppa Sr.

Milton E. Poppa Sr., 88, passed away on Wednesday, Mar. 16, 2011.

Milton was born in Langston, Mo., on October 15, 1922. He was married to Lola Belle Davis from April 27, 1945, until her passing on October 6, 1992. He was remarried on April 16, 1994 to Louse A. Martin.

Milton served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1942 until 1945. He was discharged in 1945 due to injuries he received in battle. He recieved many medals for bravery, including the purple heart.

Milton worked for 50 years in the Rogue Valley as an automotive mechanic. His hobbies were traveling, camping, hunting and fishing. His most passionate hobby was stock car racing. Milton was well known throughout the racing community. He will be dearly missed. Always ready to lend an ear or a tool, Milton will forever be remembered for his generosity.

Milton is survived by his wife, Louise A. Poppa; six children, Milton Jr., Janice Hills, Jimma Calame, Ricky Poppa, Joyce Hendry and Jerry Poppa; brother, Merle Poppa, of Maryville, Mo.; 11 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren; as well as Louise Martin's children, Sharon Turcotte, Gerald Turcotte, and Kathy Boykin. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lola Belle Davis; daughter, Judy Riles; and by his brothers, Harold and Alvin Poppa.

A memorial will be held Sunday, Mar. 27, 2011, 2 p.m., at the V.A. cemetery in Eagle Point, Ore. All family and friends are invited to attend.
