Eleanor 'Ellie' Malzahn Jacobsen
March 23, 1934 - August 2, 2011
Eleanor passed away peacefully in Newport Beach, Calif., surrounded by members of her family. She had struggled with pulmonary issues in recent years.
Her parents invested in her musical education in both piano and violin; later focusing on the violin. She became a professional musician, playing in symphony orchestras such as the Sacramento, Calif., and Rogue Valley Symphony, Ashland, Ore. She earned her degree in music from Southern Oregon University, in Ashland, Ore., where she led the Youth Orchestra. Later, in Cambria, Calif., and San Luis Obispo, she taught violin.
As an active Christian Scientist, she was an organist for the Christian Science churches in San Luis Obispo, as well as Sedona, Ariz. She and her late husband, Vic, were involved in school boards and programs in Orange County, Calif., and Colfax, Calif.
Ellie quickly made friends wherever she went, and maintained those bonds throughout her life. She greeted everyone with a sparkle in her eyes and a smile on her face.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Nora; brother, Paul; daughter, Linda; and her first husband, Vic.
She is survived by her second husband, Fred; sons, Richard and Mark; daughter, Lisa; and seven grandchildren.
