Doris Genelle Satterfield Larison
Doris Genelle Satterfield Larison, 85, of Prineville, Ore., passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2011, at Mt. View Care Home.
Doris was born in Mt. Vernon, Ill., on October 31, 1925, to Thomas Oral and Hazel Nelle (Dulaney) Satterfield. Her parents were pioneers in Medford, Ore. Her father was a pastor for many years at the First Church of God, in Medford.
She attended and graduated from Medford High School with the class of 1943. She also earned some college credits at DePaul University.
Doris was married to Jack Clark Larison on August 4, 1943, in Medford.
Doris worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Chicago for 20 plus years, later, she worked for Staffing for Success, in Medford, until retiring in 1994.
She was a member of the First Church of God in Medford, and served as a volunteer secretary for many years.
Doris was an avid reader, enjoying anything from newspapers to novels. Her favorite author was Debbie Macomber. She enjoyed music from Bing Crosby to the Gaither Vocal Band. Doris enjoyed playing the piano and sang with the choir in Medford, and Bensonville, Ill. She loved her church and will be remembered as the most kindhearted and amazing woman. Doris moved to Prineville in 2008.
Doris is survived by her granddaughters, Lisa Morgan, of Prineville, and Vicki Horn (Jerry), of Bend; grandsons, Thomas Wakup, of Medford, Ore., and Rob Skor, of Ga.; eight grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sister; one nephew; and one daughter, Jacklyn Lee Wakup (2006).
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2011, at 1:00 p.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park, in Medford, Ore. John Wiuff of Medford's First Church of God will officiate.
