Betty Lou Robertson
Betty Lou Robertson, 59, of Medford, Ore., passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 11, 2011, after an extended illness, with her husband, Les, at her side.
Betty was born on May 21, 1952, in Waterloo, Iowa and grew up in Bend, Ore., where she graduated from High School in 1970.
Betty retired from the U.S. Forest Service, with 34 years of Federal Service, in August 2008; she served as the budget analyst, on the Rogue RiverSiskiyou National Forest. Her career also included time with other National Forests, working for the Bureau of Land Management, and the National Park Service.
Betty's true love, passion and talent showed in her quilting. She was an artist, and as was her nature, gave most of her quilts to friends and family. Betty was a core member in a community sewing group producing clothing for less fortunate children.
Betty enjoyed traveling, spending time in the forest, watching the ocean from her favorite spot at Bandon, trailer camping, word find, and jig saw puzzles.
She is survived by her husband, Les Robertson, of Medford, Ore.; her sister, Nancy Olson, of Phoenix, Ore,; her brothers, Richard Olson, of Portland, Ore.; Gary Olson and sister-in-law, Shelby Olson, of Redding, Calif.; niece, Jenny Olson, of Phoenix, Ore.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin (Ole) Olson and Phyllis Olson.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 8, 2011, at 1:30 p.m., at Siskiyou Memorial Park, 2100 Siskiyou Blvd, Medford, Oregon, 97504.
