Ronald Austin Sr. passed away October 10, 2011, at Rogue Valley Medical Center. Ronald was born in Inglewood, Calif., on March 31, 1945, to Eugene and Frances Austin. He was married August 4, 1964, to Marilyn Sakraida.

He served in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1969, where he served two tours of duty in Vietnam. Ron worked for the City of Medford for 20 years, plus 26 years with the Operating Engineer Local 701 and 3.

Ron had many hobbies, but loved to watch his sons' race, his 1930 model A, his cats Sassy and Sissy, as well as NASCAR and NHRA racing.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Marilyn; and sons, Ron Jr. (Tamie), of Medford, Ore., and Mike (Carol), of Medford, Ore. Ron was preceded in death by both parents.

A memorial service will be held at Eagle Point National Cemetery on Friday, October 14, 2011, at 10:45 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Perl Funeral Home.
