David Michael Grubbs, 23, passed away on Saturday,

November 19, 2011. He was born on November 23, 1987, in Santa Rosa, Calif.

From the moment David, "Day-Day" to his family or simply "Grubbs" to his friends, was born he had a natural ability to bring joy to those around him. David lived in Santa Rosa until he was seven, when his family relocated to Ashland, Ore. It was in Ashland that David established lifelong friendships, first at Helman Elementary, then at Ashland Middle School and High School. During his time at AMS, David discovered his love for music, which developed into a lifelong passion of playing both the standup and electric bass. David began working at Shop n' Kart in high school and continued working there on and off for seven years. He graduated from Ashland High School in 2006, and went on to pursue studies at Portland Community College, before returning to Ashland in 2009.

A thoughtful and loyal man, David loved to make people laugh and never failed to do so. He was exceedingly kind and quietly compassionate. Uncomplicated in the things he took pleasure in, he most enjoyed family, friends, and a good bag of sunflower seeds.

David is survived by parents, Cherie and Michael, both of Ashland, Ore.; and sisters, Sarah, of Portland, Ore., and

Rachell, of Los Angeles, Calif.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Ashland, Saturday, November 26, 2011, at 1:00 p.m.
