Reginald George

McShane Sr., "Mac"

Reginald G. McShane Sr., 84, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Born in Balm, Alberta, Canada on November 27, 1926, he held dual citizenship and moved to the United States at the age of 16. Mac joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17. He fought in World War II and the Korean War. Retiring after serving 20 plus years defending the country he loved.

On March 23, 1957, he married the love of his life, Virginia Temler, and her two children, Fred and Ginger, in Philadelphia, Pa. In 1958, Mac was transferred and moved with his family to Southern California. Upon retiring from the Navy in 1964, the family moved to their current address on Antioch Road in Sam's Valley. He then worked for Medford Steel for 17 years. He finally retired at age 65, after 12 years with TJ Vickers (now Eaton).

Mac enjoyed spending quality time with his family. He faithfully attended his children's and grandchildren's sporting events and local fairs. Hunting, fishing, camping and card games were just a few of the things he enjoyed with his family and friends. He will be missed by all.

Mac is survived by his wife, Virginia McShane, of Sam's Valley, Ore.; five children, Frederick (Betty) Temler, of Dufur, Ore., Virginia "Ginger" (Karl) Branum, of Medford, Ore., Reginald "Reg" Jr. (Michelle) McShane, of Amity, Ore., Leland McShane, of Sam's Valley, Ore., Heather (Dave) Crum, of Sam's Valley, Ore.; 20 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; his brother, Verle Bell and family from Mayerthorpe, Alberta, Canada.

A private graveside service will be held at Antioch Cemetery on December 3, 2011, 2:00 p.m., followed by a celebration of life at the family home from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Asante Hospice of the Rogue Valley or the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society.
