Lee Vance Crockett
Lee Vance Crockett, 86, of Ashland, Ore., passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at Linda Vista Care Center. He was born October 16, 1925, in Long Beach, Calif., the son of Wilma and Donn Crockett. He was raised in Long Beach and graduated from Stanford University in 1950. He later earned a Ph.D. in Psychology from Laurence University in Santa Barbara, Calif.
From 1943 to 1945, he served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific.
Vance has lived in Glendora, Pittsburg, and Twentynine Palms, Calif. , where he was Morango School District's school psychologist, and he also was a professor at Chapman College on the U.S. Marine Corps base. He lived in Bandon, Ore., before moving to Ashland in 2007.
Vance was married to Alice O'Brien, who preceded him in death in 2001. On January 11, 2002, in Langlois, Ore., he married Jane Taylor Morrison who survives.
Vance was an avid bridge player, and he also enjoyed reading.
Vance is survived by son, Christopher Crockett, currently living in Scotland; and three stepchildren, Julie Causseaux, of Twentynine Palms, Calif., Patrick O'Brien, of Twentynine Palms, Calif., and Robyn O'Brien, of Putney, Vt.
A private family service will be held.
