Gustav 'Gus' Emil

Paul Schefstrom

Gustav "Gus" Emil Paul Schefstrom, 65, passed away in the loving care of his wife, Lynne, at his residence Wednesday, May 9, 2012.

Gus was born July 23, 1946, in Portland, Ore. His family moved to Rogue River, Ore., when Gus was two, where he attended and graduated from the Rogue River School District. Gus served honorably in Vietnam and returned to Rogue River to work in a local mill. Gus fell in love and married his best friend, Lynne Offenbacher. They were married in 1979, and moved that year to Portland so Gus could attend Western States Chiropractic College.

After graduation Gus and Lynne returned to the Rogue Valley to open their practice, Lynne running the office and Gus taking care of the patients. Gus retired this year after building one of the most loved practices and changing an untold number of people's lives. When Gus had time he loved gardening, hiking, and raising his two poodles, Gracie and Gunner. Gus was a proud, loving man, and everyone who know Gus loved him and considered him "their best friend."

Gus is survived by his loving wife, Lynne; his brothers, Jess, Shelby, and Kurt Schefstrom; his sister, Cecila Schefstrom; six nieces and nephews; and 12 great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Gretta Anderson.

In lieu of a service, on May 26, 2012, at 12:00 noon, anyone wanting to show their love for Gus please be a part of a balloon release. Where ever you are, take a minute to step outside and release a balloon and think of your favorite memory of Gus.
