Charles Renskers went home to be with his Lord June 11, 2012. He was born June 25, 1923, in Strasberg, N.D., to Myrna (Caryl) and Samuel Renskers. His family moved to Minnesota where he was raised on the family farm.
He served during World War II as a member of the U.S. Navy Seabees. On August 3, 1947, in Laporte, Minn., he married Ruth Frey, daughter of Ersie (Wade) and Harold Frey. They moved to Oregon in 1951 to raise their family. Charles worked in the timber and construction industries, City of Ashland, Talent Rural Fire Department, City of Talent, and Harry & David.
Charles is survived by his wife of almost 65 years; sons, Chester (Kathy), of Blaine, Wash., Stanley (Michele), of Boulder, Mont., Gordon (Patty), Steven (Kelly), both of Medford, Ore.; daughter, Barbara (Dwayne) (O'Connor) McIntosh, of Rocky Point, Ore.; brother, Walter (Margaret) Renskers, of Laporte, Minn.; sister, Edna Marr, of Placerville, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and another on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; two sisters; and one grandson.
Internment will be held at the Eagle Point National Cemetery in Eagle Point, Ore. A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, June 25, 2012, 11:00 a.m., at Valley Bible Fellowship, 616 S. Pacific Hwy., Talent, OR. In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation in Charles' name to your favorite charity.
