Marchino Marin passed Sunday July 15, 2012 as his grandson Luke held his hand. Marchino Schienier Marin was born in Hilt, California February 8, 1932 to John and Angela Marin. He attended school at Hilt Elementary and Yreka High School. He resided in Hilt and worked at Fruit Growers Supply for many years. On December 8, 1951 in Reno, Nevada he married Barbara Anderson. They moved to Talent, Ore., in 1967 and Schienier continued to drive over the Siskiyous daily to work until the mill closed in 1972.
Schienier and Barbara owned and operated Marin's Caf in Talent for 25 years. He was known as Julio to all of his loyal customers. Dad loved hunting deer and fishing in the streams of the Colestin Valley, hunting Morel mushrooms, cutting his own firewood and caring for his land in Talent.
Schienier is survived by Barbara, his wife of 60 years; his son John Marin and daughter-in-law Debbie of Hilt, California; daughter Janney Marin of Talent, and daughter Lanette Marin Jones of Gold Hill, Ore., grandchildren Lucas John Marin, Gloria Jean Marin, Robert Marchino Marin, and Scott Anthony Marin, great-grandchildren Tyler Cole Marin, and Brady Marchino, Mason, and Mia Marin. He is also survived by his 2 older brothers, Tony and Italo Marin and many nieces and nephews. His parents and sister, Alba, preceded him in death.
The family invites friends, neighbors, and former customers of Marin's Caf to a celebration of Schienier's life July 28, 2012 from 2-7 pm at the Marin family home, 605 Hartley Road, Talent. Please bring a potluck dish and a story to share.
A very heartfelt thank you to Dr. Albert Newton, Dad's long-time physician and family friend and to Jackson County Fire District 5 Rescue for the many trips made to our home.
Donations in Marchino Marin's name may be made to Fire House 5 Foundation which was started by his son John who worked at District 5 for 38 years.
