Kathleen 'Kay or Katie' (Stampfli) Anderson

Katie left this world for the next on August 6, 2012. Born October 23, 1932, to Shirley and Florence Stampfli in Susanville, Calif., Katie attended and graduated from Susanville schools. Growing up on "the ranch" provided many happy memories and stories that have passed back and forth between Katie and her brother, Don (and anyone else who would listen). Katie married Lee Anderson in 1949.

She worked for (and retired from) the State of California, Dept. of Motor Vehicles. In the course of Lee's employment as a fire chief, they moved several times. Kay made many lifelong friends along the way. Kay and Lee discovered and fell in love with Border Terriers. They owned several and showed them across the U.S. The connection with the dog show circuit allowed for all the more lasting friendships to be formed.

The Andersons moved to Southern Oregon in 2000 to be near their eldest daughter, Kathy. Katie had a great sense of humor and enjoyed writing poetry and fiction. In the various Border Terrier clubs, her terriers had "conversations" with other dogs via the internet, much to the delight (and sometime chagrin) of the other club members. Katie wrote and published a book of Border Terrier poetry and stories and folks to this day are asking for copies. Through the years, Katie brought much joy to many. She will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her.

Katie is survived by Lee, her husband of 63 years (Shady Cove, Ore.); daughter, Kathy (Tom) Rodriguez (Prospect, Ore.); son, Terry Anderson (Yakima, Wash.); daughter, Becky Ruiz (Pomona, Calif.); brother, Don Stampfli (Janesville, Calif.); several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews; and her beloved dogs, Rogue and River.

It was Katie's wish that no services be held. Arrrangements are under the direction of Perl Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to: P.A.W.S., P.O. Box 849, Galt, CA 95632.
