Kathleen Attracta Scott
Katie passed away peacefully October 11, 2012, at home in Central Point, Ore. surrounded by love and with her family at her side, "comfy cozy, in the warm embrace of Jesus. Katie was born in County Claire, Ireland, April 8, 1920. She lived there until she came by ship to the United States. It was in Boston where she met her future husband and one true love of her life, Harold Scott. She moved with him to the west coast where they settled in Martinez, Calif. following the war. She raised three children and during those years was an active volunteer in the schools, church, and community. Katie was a lively participant of various groups and of life.
Katie was best known for her eagerness to jump into the opportunities of life, especially the more adventuresome. Katie could be best described as a self-educated, well-read, renaissance lady homemaker. She never missed an opportunity to celebrate life. Her love of reading led to the creation of an environment of learning that enveloped all those around her. Her whole family developed that same thirst for knowledge and the appreciation of various points of view. Her passion for adventure often led her to the outdoors where she loved spending time among the trees and flowers, which seemed to dance in her presence as did those around her. Katie never met a dog that didn't give her a wag of their tail.
She loved to travel, see new places, meet new people. She was eager to openly share her points of view and was confident discussing them. Each new adventure was preceded by hours of reminiscing of past adventures, which sparked excitement for the future and what we were doing next.
Her lively spirit, fun-loving nature, and spontaneity are characteristics that live on in her children and grandchildren. She brought a smile to all who knew her with her radiant love. Her spirituality and love of Jesus leaves us with the peace of knowing she is well taken care of from here.
Katie was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of 68 years, Harold Scott, of Central Point, Ore.; her son, Martin Scott, of Wallowa, Ore.; her daughter, Anne Daugherty, of Central Point, Ore. and favored son-in-law, William Daugherty; her son, Michael Scott, of Spring, Texas, and his wife, Tracy; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
